CMS Wellness Wednesdays
Overview:
Wellness Wednesday is an evidence-based, cognitive behavior intervention for 6th through 8th graders at Coronado Middle School. During the monthly interactive sessions, Wellness Wednesday encourages social connection and practical application of social skills. Safe Habor Coronado's specialized staff bring an assortment of board games, yard games, and calming crafts to create a safe and interactive space to have fun with friends, initiate new relationships, and connect with trusted Safe Harbor Coronado adults. Students gain an increased sense of connection, improved self-esteem, and more positive view of self, as well as an inclusive place to join especially for those new to the school or are timid to join the sports activities or other groups. Students increase the number of significant friendships, and their skillset improves with familiar games or those they are learning like chess, checkers, or coloring mandalas.
